The power of data to help identify trends is invaluable for ensuring safety and optimum performance at a mine site
Nautitech® is well-known throughout the underground mining industry for our award-winning, innovative electronic solutions for methane monitoring, underground communications, intrinsically safe lighting solutions, HD and thermal cameras and 3.5″ and 7.0″ displays. Our software engineers have built on our electronics technology by providing a way to use the data that’s collected to detect safety risks and gain insight to support improved mining operations.
Longwall REDBOLT Solution
The REDBOLT solution uses the award winning Nautitech® Thermal Camera and visual analytics via the Hawkeye 7.0″ SMART Display for “hot” object detection and frictional ignition hazards on Longwall and Conveyors to prevent CH4 gas ignitions.
Outputs to the LW CME are analysed to raise an alarm and stop the longwall when hot objects exceeding the threshold are identified. It allows for a large temperature safety margin to prevent CH₄ gas ignitions. Access drifts can be scanned for failed conveyer rollers and belt rubbing on structure from misalignment.
Operational benefits:
- REDBOLT solution analyses outputs to the LW CME, to raise an alarm and stop the longwall when hot objects exceeding the threshold are identified
- Allows for a large temperature safety margin to prevent CH₄ gas ignitions
- Access drifts can be scanned for failed conveyer rollers and belt rubbing on structure from misalignment
- Hot object detection on AFC at up to 4 m/sec
- Assessed temperature range: 0°C to 550°C
- Ignition sources may include roof bolts, rib dowels, plates, nuts, shearer pics, sleeves and other debris
Spitfire® Data Master MR
The Spitfire® Data Master MR (Mobile Reports) is the FIRST connectivity and data visualisation tool for underground diesel machines in Australia.
For the person in charge of scheduling and maintenance of underground diesel vehicles, having critical vehicle data is invaluable for a proactive approach to operational efficiency and incident investigation. Data is collected from sensors on diesel RTVs as they come within Wi-Fi range. This data is analysed and presented in a visual format to support many operational outcomes.
Operational benefits:
- Real-time data accessed via Wi-Fi on a supported device underground or on the surface
- Use months of stored data to make informed decisions about scheduling and prepare accurate shift reports
- Plan preventative maintenance by understanding trends based on timeframe, machine or sensor
- Use recorded data to explore CH4 gas levels, inertia monitoring, time, force, position, engine temperatures and pressure sensors
- Time-stamped logs from Personnel Detection Systems (PDS) provide facts for investigations, troubleshooting and preventative action
