Our QLD team recently completed a fit out of a personnel transporter with NAUTITECH gear including ELEVEN CUBEx IS lights for UG mining powered by just ONE power supply. Intrinsically Safe lights for underground mining were installed on the machine as driving lights, cut-through lights, deck lights and roof lights.
The team also installed a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) which is charged when the alternator is running during normal operations. As a result, during emergencies or maintenance procedures, when it is safer to have the machine switched off, the UPS can power up two lights for up to 4 1/2 hours so the mine crew can move around safely and conduct repairs.
Many uses of CUBEx IS Lights
Our mining clients use CUBEx IS lights as:
- Floodlights
- Area lights
- Driving lights
- Traffic (or mode) lights
- Emergency or hazard lights powered by UPS
- Triggered lights for GO | NO-GO zones
- Bank lights for shafts and tunnels
Other important benefits:
- Damage to CUBEx IS Lights does not constitute HPI (High Potential Incident)
- Compliance costs can be reduced by extended Code-D
- Running costs can be reduced due to power consumption as little as 300 mA at 12VDC
- IEC 60079-28 compliant and certified for illumination hazard in Group I, IIB and IIIB.
CUBEx IS lights for UG mining are the first controllable IS flood, head, and directional lights in Australia. These versatile and robust Intrinsically Safe lights for underground mining have been proven time and again in the field for applications including Longwall, Development, RTVs and area lighting.
The CUBEX suite of Intrinsically Safe modular products don’t require additional enclosures for use in hazardous environments. Over time, mining companies may save on costs by using an IS solution, as it can lead to a reduction in inspections, maintenance, and machinery down time.
